What Does Thriving Actually Look Like for You?

Thriving isn’t a formula. Discover how to define your own version of thriving, with clarity, honesty, and heart.

What Does Thriving Actually Look Like for You?

What Does Thriving Actually Look Like, for You?

There’s a lot of talk right now about wellbeing, flourishing, thriving.

And often, my coaching clients say: “I just want to feel like I’m really thriving.”

The good news? That’s completely possible.

But let’s be clear, thriving isn’t a buzzword. Thriving is an outcome.

It’s the result of high levels of wellbeing across your life - Physically. Emotionally. Mentally. Psychologically.

In plain English? It’s your ability to feel good and function well.

Sounds lovely, right? But what does that actually look like? What do you do to thrive?

Here’s the truth:  Thriving is not a one-size-fits-all lifestyle.

It’s not about copying someone else’s habits.

It’s not a Instagram-perfect wellness routine.

It’s about building a life that feels like yours.

The old “Thriving” that nearly broke me

I used to follow people like Dave Asprey and Robin Sharma (huge respect for their experience and expertise).

But, 5:30am HIIT workouts. Bulletproof coffee. Fasting. Discipline. Hustle.

It may have looked like thriving, but my body was saying otherwise.

I was doing F45 five to six days a week, on top of flying across Asia leading a major change program.

And you know what? I was wrecked.

Brain fog, dehydration, weight gain, deep fatigue.

Not thriving. Surviving, but barely.

Adapting my version of Thriving.

Five years ago, I started studying wellbeing, positive psychology, and mindfulness.

That’s when I realised: I’d been outsourcing my definition of thriving. I was mindlessly following instructions, without listening to my mind and body.

And now, it was time to listen.

Since then, I’ve had to keep adapting. Starting a business meant stretching my brain in new ways.

Constant learning. Constant pressure.

Add ADHD and perimenopause into the mix, and hello again, fatigue.

So, I shifted again.  These days, my thriving looks like:

  • Daily movement

  • Slow coffee in a real cup

  • Journaling in the morning light

  • Walking near water

  • Focusing on presence and being mindful.

What’s your version of Thriving?

Take a moment. Grab a journal. Ask yourself:

  1. When do I feel most alive?  What am I doing? Who am I with? What sensations do I notice in my body?

  2. What drains me - even if it looks good on paper? These are habits that appear successful, but leave you feeling empty.

  3. What nourishes me, physically, mentally, emotionally? Think of small moments, meaningful rituals, and real connection.

  4. What part of my life needs more ease, energy, or softness? Work, relationships, health, creativity? What one shift would help?

  5. If thriving had a feeling, what would it be for me? Calm? Groundedness? Excitement? Clarity? Serenity? Awe? Joy?

What’s your Thriving Recipe?

Thriving isn’t a destination. It’s a way of being.  And it often begins in the smallest, most human ways:

  • A walk in nature instead of one more meeting

  • Saying “no” to protect your peace

  • Putting down your phone and picking up a pen

  • Doing one thing that makes you feel like you again

You don’t have to get it perfect.  You just have to get honest.

You get to define what thriving means for you.  And when you do, it changes everything.
